Your digital files such as your blog is a equivalent to time, and time is life. It’s sage to say that your digital life your life. You have given so much time and effort to it, and you don’t want to fall into waste.
On average, 30,000 websites are hacked each day. Mine was one of them. Someone made my site total black, with a picture of a Korean leader with some grotesque pictures upfront. I was not able to solve it in few weeks, and it could’ve caused shame to me and many others. The best way to protect yourself from these dangers is to invest on security.
One of the best security plugins out there is iThemes Security. First, I thought it’s a plugin exclusive for certain themes, but it’s the former Better WP Security. As of this writing, it has 4.7 stars out of 5.
Good thing is that I have made numerous exports of my sites using the Tools > Imports functionality. I was able to restore much of my articles that led me to restart once again. However, the images I had worked to store were lost.
Then there comes this plugin called All-in-One WP Migration which gives you the power to quickly export you site including your images, media and content. I had to export my portfolio to my business site and this plugin helped me a lot.
I recommed that you constantly export your site, download the file and store it in your dropbox and hard drive. This will give you peace of mind.
Life is digital, back it up- this is becoming a reality of our age. The products of our labors are now stored by 1’s and 0’s as digital, and it is worthit to invest on cloud and backup storage. When I have a very important file, I back it up in Dropbox, Box, Evernote, GDrive and External Drive. Preparation is better.
If not in WordPress post drafts, I write my idea drafts in Evernote. In this way, I have a double back-up to my life’s work.
