Society and Envy

A society overpowered by envy leads to more covetousness. Covetousness leads us to more unhappiness. It causes us to pursue more material things for mere vain glory.

In that society, hearts no longer long for productive, valuable and upward output. People tend to produce product of lower value.

Longer vacations are sought. In that society, people become excessive consumers rather than producers, takers than makers.

An increase in laziness results to an increase in envy.

Solution is going back to the chief purpose of man. Was it to acquire things? Fame? Attention? Were we created to glorify ourselves? Bow down to fellow creation?

The chief end of man is also our purpose. It’s our daily procedure. Once we lose focus, we lose our value and joy.
